Book Summaries

On the book summaries page I’ll highlight from the 100+ books I read per year the ones I feel helped me the most with self improvement.

The Passion Test – by Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood

In the book they have you list everything you are passionate about. From that list you narrow it down to the top 5 things you are passionate about.

To help clarify it further they have you write what someone close to you will say at your 100th birthday about you and the life you live. How you affected others and what you accomplished.

For additional information see The Passion Test Page

Loving what is : four questions that can change your life – by Byron Katie with Stephen Mitchell

This book covers what Byron Katie “Katie” calls The Work. It is truly an amazing book that helps you realize you don’t have to live in pain.

She takes you through 4 questions and how to use them to completely eliminate the pain in your life.

Secrets of the millionaire mind : mastering the inner game of wealth – by T. Harv Eker

He explains in detail how your money blueprint determines how successful you will be in regards to money.

I also liked his explanation of what he calls “The Process of Manifestation:

Your programming leads to your thoughts.
Your thoughts lead to your feelings.
Your feelings lead to your actions.
Your actions lead to your results.

He takes you through easy steps on how to change your “programming” to achieve the results you believe your deserve.

He also has you stop complaining for 7 days. Every time you catch yourself either verbally or in your mind he has you take your index finger across your neck. Reminding you that you are basically slitting your own throat in regards to success by complaining.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

More than 20 million people have learned the principles of success by reading this book. I’ve read a newer version of this book a few years ago.

I’ve recently got my hands on a 1954 copy of the book. It has a lot more information regarding the law of attraction. Also, more step by step guidelines.

I consider it a must read for anyone looking for a road map to success.

I’ve come across an offer of a free copy of the 1937 version of the book. I’ve included the information below:

Blink by Malcolm Gladwell

This is an interesting book. You know how when you meet someone for the first time you’ll sometimes like them or dislike them immediately. Blink helps to explain how this happens.

He also covers how even though we aren’t “consciously” prejudice our unconscious beliefs will impact our decisions. He gives some insight to this and how me can become more consciously aware.

This is a book that is a good eventual read. The Passion Test – by Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood, Loving what is : four questions that can change your life – by Byron Katie with Stephen Mitchell and The 21-day consciousness cleanse by Debbie Ford are books I suggesting reading before this one if you are currently not satisfied with how your experiencing life right now.

I Need Your Love – Is That True by Bryon Katie

This is a follow up book to Loving what is : four questions that can change your life – by Byron Katie with Stephen Mitchell.

I thought that book was amazing. This one takes it to a whole new level.

It helped me understand that the only one I need to worry about what they are thinking is ME. I only have control over that. I was always worrying about what everyone else was thinking – usually incorrectly I might add -when I had the guts to actually ask them what they were thinking.

Since reading this book I am finding I can truly listen to what they are saying. I’m doing this instead of figuring out my response. It’s amazing how much “quiet” time there is between talking to really take in what is being said.

Truly a life changing book.
