Types of Exercise

Below are the types of exercise I do:

Walking:

I enjoy taking a nice leisurely walk several times during the day. I return to work refreshed and focused.

I hear all the time how you should be power walking, etc. However, for me the stress release provided by walking at a casual pace is more of a benefit than worrying about increasing my heart rate.

Stress is the number one cause of most diseases. The benefits of releasing that is huge. If I had to “power walk” I’d have to wait until after work letting the stress of the day build. Allowing stress to build makes no sense to me. Especially when a quick walk takes care of it and is easy to fit in my schedule.

I read the benefits are the same if you walk 1 hour or 3 – 20 minute walks. I believe the 3 walks are more beneficial if you have stress throughout your day so you can release it as soon as possible.

Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth:

I highly recommend not only reading but following the exercises in this book. I do these every morning to start my day off right. I feel energized – ready to enjoy whatever the day may bring.

He uses a combination of different types of exercise – similar to yoga that help to clear your energy centers along with spinning. You start with 3 repetitions and build to 21 repetitions of each per day.

All you need is a quiet place to exercise, about 15 minutes and a mat. I use a mat to keep my feet from slipping and for comfort.

Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone:

This is an easy way to fit exercise into your schedule. In the time it would take you to get to and from the gym you can have your exercise done.

I like the Walk Strong Express video. It is a combination of strength training and walking. All you need is a resistance band.

I like the 5 Mile Walk DVD – it includes 4 workouts in one DVD. It saves you from having to purchase multiple videos as you progress.

I also like the Walk ‘n Kick for something different.

Note: I found these at Target, Walmart and at Amazon – usually a little bit cheaper than what she sells them for on her site.

Healthy Living Tips:

Exercise is a key factor to a healthy lifestyle. You don’t have to join a gym or take up jogging. Even taking just a 10 minute walk a day will help you start to feel the benefits to exercise.
